Man Claims Two Men Beat And Robbed Him
(From For the Record, April 28, 1998): Bar misidentified: Three men involved in a fight and alleged robbery had argued at the Lake City Saloon before scuffling in an alley near the business. A police report misidentified the bar.
A 36-year-old Coeur d’Alene man told police two men followed him from a bar late Thursday, beat him and robbed him.
Police questioned two men at the Powder River Saloon on Sherman Avenue, but made no arrests. Todd Dobbe, who told police he lost $160 to $180 during the robbery, was not seriously injured.
An argument between Dobbe and the two men inside the bar spilled outside, according to police reports.
Dobbe told police the two men backed him down an alley and jumped him at 17th Street. He said the men held him down while they emptied his pockets and broke his wrist watch.
Both men told police Dobbe pulled a knife on them after challenging them to a fight in the alley. They said they managed to wrestle Dobbe to the ground without being injured, but denied stealing from him, according to police reports.
Dobbe and his alleged attackers all appeared to be drunk, police said.
