Sheila Mulloy Spokane
Memorial service for Sheila M. Mulloy, 64, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Spokane Spiritual Center. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mulloy, who was born in Bismark, N.D., died Thursday.
She moved to Spokane in 1955 and received her bachelor of arts degree in music from Gonzaga University.
Mrs. Mulloy later received her masters degree in psychology at Eastern Washington University.
While studying for her master’s degree, she worked for the Community Mental Health and then in 1984 she began working for Spokane School District 81 as an elementary school counselor.
She worked at Holmes, Brown and Willard Elementary schools before her retirement in 1997.
Mrs. Mulloy was a member of the Spokane Spiritual Center, Spokane Education Association and the Washington Education Association.
Survivors include her special friend, Hal Swenson of Spokane; a son, Brian Annis of Fort Collins, Colo.; three daughters, Jane Reed of Metaline Falls, Wash., Joan Annis of Spokane and Nicole McKay of Boise; two brothers, James and John Mulloy; and six grandchildren.
Ronald Hoehn Spokane
Memorial service for Ronald L. Hoehn, 43, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Chapel. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hoehn, a 35-year resident of Spokane, died Tuesday.
He was born in Coeur d’Alene and served with the Army.
Mr. Hoehn was an automobile mechanic.
Survivors include a son, Ron Reed of Spokane; four daughters, Tanya Bunting, and Christina and Katie Hoehn, all of Spokane, and Debra Davidson of Tacoma; two stepchildren, Jason Smith and Ronnie Cole, both of Spokane; his father, William Hoehn of Okanogan, Wash.; his mother, Dora Wacker of Boise; four brothers, Bill and Leon Hoehn, both of Okanogan, Harvey Arnold of Kellogg and James Arnold of Pflugerville, Texas; four sisters, Jeveita Shader and Vennessa Reed, both of Omak, Wash., Shirley Peterson of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Lelia Vence of Amboy, Wash., and four grandchildren.
Oma Hollingsworth Pullman
Memorial service for Oma Claire Hollingsworth, 85, will be held at a later date this summer.
Mrs. Hollingsworth, who was born in an area between North Bend and Coos Bay, Ore., died April 11.
Her family moved by wagon to Deer Park when she was young.
She worked part-time jobs as a secretary and housekeeper while receiving a horticulture degree from Washington State College.
During World War II, she worked as a secretary with the Army Corps of Engineers in Alaska.
Mrs. Hollingsworth then worked for 28 years as a secretary for Washington State University’s agricultural extension.
She was a member of the Pullman League of Women Voters and Business and Professional Women.
Her husband, Howard Hollingsworth, died in 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Sydney Reisbick of Vancouver, Wash., and Claudia Trigve of Anacortes, Wash.; a son, Wiley Hollingsworth of Pullman; two sisters, Thirsa Carpenter of Meridian, Idaho, and Wanda Joslyn of Boise; a brother, Stanley Bacon of Deer Park; two granddaughters and a great-grandson.
Jeanette Horpedahl Lind, Wash.
Memorial service for Jeanette Christine Horpedahl, 40, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Lind. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Horpedahl, who was born in Omak, Wash., died Thursday.
In 1975 she married Richard Horpedahl in Omak and graduated in 1976 from Moses Lake High School in Moses Lake.
She also graduated from a beauty school in Moses Lake, where she obtained her beautician license.
In 1977 they moved to Alaska for two years and in 1979 moved to Lind from Fairbanks.
Mrs. Horpedahl opened a beauty shop in their home in Lind and operated it for 19 years.
She was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church of Lind.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jennifer Horpedahl, and a son, Seth Horpedahl, both at home; her mother and stepfather, Jean and Gerry Nelson of Omak; a sister, Lori Bornong of Ephrata, Wash.; and two brothers, Mark Thomas of Fairbanks and Joe Thomas of Riverside, Wash.
Memorial contributions may be made to cancer research.
Steve Pontius Spokane
Funeral for Steve P. Pontius, 39, will be at 11 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. Pontius, who was born in Hollywood, Calif., died Tuesday.
In 1973 he moved to Spokane from Japan, where his parents were missionaries, and in 1977 he graduated from Mead High School.
For 10 years Mr. Pontius worked for Key Tronic, where he was an instructor in the computer mold injection department.
He then worked at several machine shops and most recently had been employed at St. Joseph Care Center, East Campus, as a certified nurses’ assistant.
Mr. Pontius was a member of the Bozo Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Pontius of Spokane; his parents, George and Marilyn Pontius of Spokane; three brothers, Tim Pontius of Newport, Wash., Jay Pontius of Lancaster, Calif., and John Pontius of Brentwood, Calif.; and his grandmother, Trudy Crandell of Spokane.
Mark Darrow Jr. Waitts Lake, Wash.
No service will be held for Mark A. Darrow Jr., 74, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Darrow, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.
He lived in California from 1925 to 1960, and served overseas as a technical sergeant in World War II.
Mr. Darrow then began his career in structural drafting and retired in 1987.
In 1987 he moved to Waitts Lake.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Mary Ann; two sons, John Darrow of Clayton, Wash., and Jeffrey Darrow of Hamilton, Mont.; a daughter, Janis Binatena of Torrance, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
Helene Boyd Spokane
No service will be held for Helene Mae Boyd, 93, at her request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Boyd, a 68-year resident of Spokane, died Wednesday.
She was born in Belgrade, Mont., and worked as a homemaker.
Mrs. Boyd worked at Galena Army Air Depot at Spokane during World War II and retired from Columbia Lighting.
Her husband of 70 years, George, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Dwane Boyd of West Chicago; two daughters, Dawn Boyd, at home, and Deniece Boyd of Newport, Wash.; a grandson and three great-granddaughters.
Donald Brown Rosamond, Calif.
Memorial service for Donald D. Brown, 72, will be held at a later date at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery. Murphy Mortuary in Lancaster, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brown, who was a 17-year resident of Rosamond, died April 7.
He was born in Spokane and graduated in 1943 from Rogers High School.
Mr. Brown participated in stock car racing in the early 1950s at the old Mead race track.
He was the retired co-owner of Meldon Glass Inc. in Lancaster.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria; a son, Dixon of Spokane; a brother, Earl Brown; a sister, Lora Rickard of Spokane; and three grandsons.
Connie Williams Spokane
Funeral for Connie Williams, 77, was Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial followed at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Williams, who was a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Saturday.
She graduated from North Central High School and worked as a beautician at Lincoln Heights Regal Salon.
Mrs. Williams was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Rebekah Lodge.
Her husband of 31 years, Robert, died in 1993.
Survivors include her mother, Ruth Cole of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; a granddaughter, Laura Thurber of Auburn, Wash.; and two grandsons.
Irma Leaf Spokane
Graveside service for Irma M. Leaf, 84, was Friday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Leaf, who was born in Asotin, Wash., died Tuesday.
She worked at Boeing during World War II in aircraft construction.
Mrs. Leaf moved to Spokane in 1956 and was a member of the Ramona Rebekah Lodge.
Her husband of 60 years, John, died in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Gary Leaf of Newcastle, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
