Comments Sought On 2 Subdivisions
The public will have a chance to comment on two Kootenai County developments, commissioners decided Wednesday.
The Avondale Meadows and Powderhorn Ridge subdivisions will be scheduled for public hearings. The dates haven’t been determined.
Avondale Meadows was proposed and approved in 1994 and has received three extensions for preliminary plat approval.
On April 13, the county Planning Commission turned down developer Ed Morse’s request for a fourth extension. Morse wants to develop 16 lots on 8.5 acres on the south side of Lancaster Road about 1-1/4 miles east of U.S. Highway 95.
Developers of Powderhorn Ridge want a one-year extension for plat approval. The Planning Commission originally rejected the development near Harrison but was overruled by commissioners. The Planning Commission offered no recommendation this time but expressed concern that the land is too steep to be developed without environmental harm.
In other business, commissioners approved granting an extension to Morse for preliminary plat approval of Flying W Ranch, a proposed development of 18 lots on 90 acres on the south side of Howard Road east of Red Fir Road.
