Murray Celebrating Molly B’Damn Days

Murray, Idaho, will host its 10th celebration in honor of Idaho’s favorite madam this weekend. Molly B’Damn Days are a fun way to celebrate Murray’s history, with festivities running from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to whenever the jam session winds down on Sunday.

The weekend begins with a eulogy at Molly B’Damn’s grave site at 11 a.m. Friday. Karaoke in City Park starts at 4 p.m. and runs to 8 p.m. A Molly B’Damn look-a-like contest gets under way at 6 p.m.

Contest participants have a little freedom in deciding how Molly looked, since only one photograph of Molly exists and its authenticity has been a matter of debate.

Saturday’s events start with recognition of past festival queens at 11 a.m. The coronation of this year’s Molly Queen will be at noon. The Molly B’Damn parade will travel down Main Street at 1 p.m. The Legends of the Old West, masters of the quick draw, will put on a show at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate in the talent show at 4 p.m. Another Molly B’Damn look-a-like contest begins at 5 p.m. Would-be singers can belt out karaoke tunes in the park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday’s activities include more karaoke beginning at 11 a.m. Musicians are invited to participate in a jam session at noon.

A variety of arts and crafts booths and vendors will be set up in the park all three days of the festival.
