Mpm Subsidiary Wins Two Contracts
A newly acquired subsidiary of Spokane-based MPM Technologies Inc. has been awarded two contracts worth almost $2 million.
AirPol Inc. of Parsippany, N.J., received a purchase order from a major paper mill in the Midwest with a total value of approximately $700,000. Shortly after the award of this project, AirPol received a $1.2 million purchase order to supply a large wet scrubber system for an Aluminum Potline process in Kentucky.
MPM bought the company last month for just under $1 million.
Friday, spokesman Robert Little called news of the new contracts “a pleasant surprise.”
He said the revenues will probably be booked during the third quarter.
Frank E. Hsu, senior vice president of AirPol said Phase II of the Clean Air Act, which requires new emission standards be complied with by the end of the year 2000, has created heavy demand for wet scrubber equipment in the pulp and paper industry.
To capture that business, he said AirPol has established a task force to handle both new installations and improvements to existing systems.
