Dorothy Harney Spokane

Funeral Mass for Dorothy A. Harney, 76, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harney, who died Thursday, was a 50-year resident of Spokane.

She was born in Waterville, Wash.

She was a member of St. Charles Parish and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Harney, who will be inducted into the Inland Empire Softball Hall of Fame, sponsored a Spokane softball team.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ben; two sons, Dwayne Harney of Spokane and Glenn Harney of Lafayette, Ind.; four daughters, Phyllis McMillan, Karen Albano and Janet McBride, all of Spokane, and Marilyn Schroeder of Mead; a sister, Genevieve Wallace of Spokane; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

George Launer Metaline, Wash.

A private family memorial service for George Launer, 82, was Saturday.

Mr. Launer, who was born in Virgil, S.D., died Wednesday.

After graduating from high school in Buffalo Springs, S.D., he moved to Helena, where he worked at St. Peters Hospital.

In 1940 he married Joyce Taft in Townsend, Mont., and they moved in 1941 to Metaline.

Mr. Launer worked at Diamond Drill and continued to to work various jobs in the local areas.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Georgann Townsend of Spokane, Pat Zimmerman and Shirley Botzheim, both of Metaline, and Sharron Gragg of Panama; a brother, Ernie Launer of Bowman, N.D.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
