Eleanore Harp Clark Fork, Idaho
Service for Eleanore G. Harp, 78, will be today at 1 p.m. at the Lakeview Bible Chapel in Hope, Idaho. Burial will take place in Wisconsin. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Harp, who was born in Minnesota, died Monday.
She grew up and attended school in Iowa and moved to Wisconsin, where she was a farmer.
Mrs. Harp moved to Trout Creek, Mont., in 1965 and to Clark Fork in 1967.
Survivors include her husband, Henry; six children, James Harp of Hannibal, Wis., Arthur and Gabriel Komanec, and William and Carole Harp, all of Clark Fork, Shirley Gross of Thompson Falls, Mont.; three sisters, Pearl Otto of Wisconsin, Iris Savas of Illinois, and Shirley Taniguchi of California; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Lorene Kindschy St. Maries
Graveside service for Lorene Elizabeth Kindschy, 92, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Cemetery near Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kindschy, who was born in Sandpoint, died Sunday.
She grew up in Sandpoint and in 1923 graduated from Sandpoint High School, where she was the captain of the girls basketball team.
Mrs. Kindschy worked as a lifeguard at the Sandpoint City Beach, and received a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Washington State College in Cheney.
She taught school in Montana before moving to Spokane, where she taught at Grant School. She retired in 1970.
Mrs. Kindschy moved to St. Maries in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include two nieces, Helen Peterson of Sandpoint and Lois Baldwin of Boise; and two nephews, Gene Peet of St. Maries and Dale Bryan of Colorado.
Lora Martin Bonners Ferry, Idaho
No service will be held for Lora Martin, 57. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Martin, who was born in American Falls, Idaho, died Wednesday.
She spent most of her life in various towns in Idaho and moved to Bonners Ferry in 1984.
Ms. Martin was a homemaker.
Survivors include five children, Melody Riggins of Oregon, Kevin Billings of Spokane, Crystal Billings of California, Kyle Billings of Bonners Ferry and Shelly Stevens of Fairfield; and five grandchildren, Anthony, Katrina, Toran, Amy and Sarah.
Darrell Brown Coeur d’Alene
Private family service for Darrell E. Brown, 72, will be held at a later date. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brown, who was born in Kellogg, died Monday.
He graduated from Kellogg High School and attended the University of Idaho College of Mines. During World War II, he attended Cornell University to receive a commission in the Navy.
After his military service Mr. Brown returned to the University of Idaho and received a bachelor of science degree in animal husbandry.
He worked as a ranch hand in Colorado for several years and as a field man for the American Hereford Association. He was involved with the first hereford taken by boat to Japan. He retired after 18 years.
Mr. Brown then worked as a chemist in a zinc mine for Bunker Hill Co. until its closure, and worked various jobs for the Hagadone Corp.
Survivors include three sisters, Yvonne Fletcher of Puyallup, Wash., Bonnie Brown of Seattle and Joan Irons of Boise.
Richard Howard Hayden, Idaho
A service of thanksgiving for Richard W. Howard, 89, will be held at a later date at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Coeur d’Alene. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Howard, who was born in Amarillo, Texas, died Monday.
He grew up in Oregon and moved to San Francisco, where he worked for the Frigidaire Corp. in commercial sales.
Mr. Howard moved to the Hayden area in 1967 to be near family.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a woodworker.
His wife of 21 years, Mildred, died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Walter Howard; a stepson, Grant Brunner; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two nephews.
Dorothy (Jones) Tate Spokane
Memorial service for Dorothy “Dot” (Jones) Tate is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tate, who died Sunday, was 81.
She was born in Ashwood, Ore., and moved to the Spokane area 50 years ago.
In 1934 she married Floyd Tate, and they owned and operated Hank’s Bike Shop, Hilltop Feed Store and University Hardware.
Mrs. Tate was a member of Victorious Warriors Christian Church.
Her husband died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie Bradshaw of Spokane; a sister, Fay Echelbarger of Deer Park; a brother, Jack Jones of Spokane; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ray Soelberg Valleyford
Service for Ray A. Soelberg, 74, will be at 11 a.m. today at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Soelberg, who was born in Utah, died Sunday.
He grew up in Utah and California, graduating from high school in California. He also graduated as an honor student from the University of Omaha.
Mr. Soelberg worked on the Alcan Highway before joining the merchant marine in 1944. He was transferred to the Army shortly after that and later to the Air Force. He retired as a major after 22 years.
Mr. Soelberg worked for Allstate Insurance Co. as a claims manager and retired in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanine; a daughter, Colette Dayley, and a son, Dean Soelberg, both of Spokane; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Bette Davis Spokane
Memorial service for Bette R. Davis, 71, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beacon Chapel. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davis, who was born in Hines, Minn., died Friday.
She moved to Spokane in 1937 retired from Sears.
Mrs. Davis is survived by a son, Frank Davis of Spokane; two sisters, Alice Hoffman of Sacheen Lake, Wash., and Leona Yates of the Parkwater area in the Spokane Valley; a brother, Fran Hayford of Oakridge, Ore.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Roy Berggren Spokane
Funeral for Roy H. Berggren, 86, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mr. Berggren, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Monday.
He worked as a bookkeeper for the American Oil Company and was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Berggren is survived by a sister, Frances Hatfield of Spokane.
Marciea Martin Spokane Graveside service for Marciea M. Martin, 83, is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Martin, who died Saturday, was born in Moscow, Idaho, and moved to Spokane as an infant.
She graduated from North Central High School, and worked as a manager for Paris Hats.
Survivors include a son, David Martin of Spokane; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
Margaret Schneider Spokane
Visitation for Margaret M. Schneider, 80, will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Schneider, who died Tuesday, was born in Seattle.
She lived in Spokane from 1952 to 1971 and returned in 1988. She also lived in Tucson, Ariz., and Rochester, N.Y.
Mrs. Schneider, a homemaker, was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and Womens Guild, and was past president of both the Manito Womens Golf Association and St. Joseph Childrens Home Auxiliary.
Her husband of 56 years, Howard Schneider, died in 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Schneider of Tacoma and Bill Schneider of Auburn, Wash.; two daughters, Anne Bruya of Spokane and Barbara Vadset of Edmonds, Wash.; two brothers, George Basel of South Carolina and Michael Basel of Illinois; two sisters, Sister Patricia Basel S.N.J.M. of Spokane and Helen Quinn of New York; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Holy Names.
James Hill Spokane
No service will be held for James L. Hill. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hill, who was born in Pendleton, Ore., died Thursday. He was 65.
He served in the Air Force and was discharged from Fairchild Air Force Base.
Mr. Hill, a 39-year resident of Spokane, worked for the railroad and for Spokane Transit.
Survivors include three stepsons, Gary, Bob and David; a stepdaughter, Carol; two sisters, Virginia White of Spokane and Carol Fredereck of Florida; and a brother, Kenneth Hill of California.
Kathi Skinner Red Bank, Tenn.
Graveside service for Kathi D. Skinner, 31, is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Skinner, a former Spokane resident, died Saturday.
She was born in Pasco and had lived in Spokane for about 25 years.
She was a homemaker, and moved to Red Bank two years ago.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Lillian and Buddy Powers of Spokane; her father, Mike Skinner of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and four sisters, Candi Schatz and Sherri Fleck, both of Spokane, Terri Low of Chattanooga and Lilli Sizemore of Reno, Nev.
