Video Release Of ‘Star Wars’ Will Be May 21

FOR THE RECORD (August 14, 1998): Date wrong: “Star Wars: Episode I” will be released as a film next year. A headline in Thursday’s IN Life section stated otherwise.

“Star Wars Episode I” has officially received its release date. The first of George Lucas’ three “prequels” to his original film trilogy will be distributed domestically on May 21 by 20th Century Fox.

While always set by the studio as a May release, the official “go” date was announced Tuesday on the “Star Wars” Web site (www.starwars.com).

“Star Wars Episode I” stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Jake Lloyd, Madison Lloyd and Natalie Portman.
