Peggy Schager Spokane

Funeral Mass for Peggy V. Schager, 84, is set for 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colbert. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schager, who died Thursday, was born in Chicago.

She was raised in Wilmette, Ill., and lived in Spokane for 16 years.

She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Thomas More Parish.

Her husband, Seng, died in 1962.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Schager of Spokane; two daughters, Judith Meehan of Colbert and Peggy Cunningham of Gilroy, Calif.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Philip Smick Endicott, Wash.

Funeral for Philip L. Smick, 97, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church of Endicott. Burial will follow at Endicott Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smick, who died Friday, was a lifetime resident of Endicott.

He was a farmer and in 1921 married Irene Litzenberger.

Mr. Smick was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Endicott, was past director of the Wheat Growers of Endicott and was a member of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers.

His wife died last June.

He is survived by a son, Dale Smick of Endicott; three grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Endicott Cemetery District.

Ella (Hofer) Thistle Spokane

Memorial service for Ella (Hofer) Thistle, 91, was Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Twisp, Wash.

Mrs. Thistle, who died Wednesday, was born in Twisp.

She was a homemaker and a 25-year Spokane resident.

Survivors include her husband, Arch; and a stepbrother, William Burge of Redmond, Wash.

Donald Picht Spokane

No service will be held for Donald W. Picht, 75, at his request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Picht, who died Thursday, was a 50-year resident of Spokane.

He was born in Walnut Grove, Minn., and served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps.

Mr. Picht was a bell captain at both the Ridpath and Spokane hotels.

He is survived by his wife, Clelia; a son, Don Picht of Spokane; a daughter, Eva Ledbetter of Vancouver, Wash.; four sisters, Marrietta Picht of Minneapolis, Vera Nelson of Stillwater, Minn., Gladys Wolfe of Mesa, Ariz., and Bertha Miesner of Phoenix; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.

Florence Barker St. Maries

Service for Florence J. Barker, 91, was Friday at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries.

Mrs. Barker, who died Tuesday, was born in Wisconsin.

She grew up and attended school in St. Maries and worked in logging camps for several years.

Mrs. Barker also worked as a midwife for Dr. Platt.

In 1933 she moved to Spokane and worked at The Davenport Hotel. She also lived in Hanford, Wash., before returning to Spokane and working at Baxter Hospital.

She moved to California and returned to St. Maries in 1962.

Survivors include her husband, Ray; a son, Richard “Butler” Dahlkey of St. Maries; a daughter, Jean Dahlkey of St. Maries; a sister, Hazel Huffman of Oregon; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
