Mary Parker Spokane

Graveside service for Mary E. Parker, 86, will be at 11 a.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. A Baha’i memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Avalon Ballroom. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Parker, who died Thursday, was born in Coeur d’Alene.

An artist, she moved to Spokane in 1913, and was known for her Indian portraiture.

Her works are in museums of the Northwest, and some are owned by various Indian tribes of the Northwest and individuals throughout the United States, England, Scotland and Japan.

The city government of Luebeck, Germany, one of Spokane’s sister cities, has been the recipient of several of her Indian portraits in oil, pen and ink, and prints.

Mrs. Parker was a member of the Spokane Realistic Art Association and a charter member of the Spokane Chapter of the American Lupus Society.

Her husband of 49 years, William Parker, died in 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Sally Koshman of Spokane; a brother, Robert James of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Dorothy (Johnson) Samish Spokane

Memorial service for Dorothy Kathryn (Johnson) Samish, 90, is set for 11 a.m. Aug. 29 at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Samish, who was born in Dishman, died Thursday.

She was raised in the Spokane Valley and was a member of the first graduating class of West Valley High School.

Mrs. Samish received her teaching credentials from Washington State Normal School in Cheney and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Tiger, Wash.

In 1927 she married William Samish in Oakland, Calif., and they returned to the Spokane Valley in 1945.

She worked for The Crescent department store for many years and was an active member of The Crescent Luncheon Club. Mrs. Samish was also a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Her husband died in 1972.

Survivors include a son, Norman Samish of Houston; a daughter, Janice Samish of Spokane; two sisters, Laura Larson of Veradale and Margaret Fowler of West Point, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Jeanes Spokane

Visitation for Dorothy S. Jeanes, 75, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jeanes, who died Saturday, was a 72-year resident of Spokane.

She was born in Devon, Mont., and graduated from Rogers High School.

Mrs. Jeanes retired after 34 years as a stenographer for the Spokane Police Department.

She was a member of the Spokane Women’s Club and was one of the leading Big Band singers in Spokane.

Mrs. Jeanes is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tommy; a son, Bradley Jeanes of Spokane; a brother, Edward Loskot, and a sister, Agnes Lopeman, both of Spokane.

Margaret (Towles) Dauenhauer Spokane

Memorial service for Margaret L. (Towles) Dauenhauer, 61, will be at 11 a.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Deer Park. Private inurnment will be held at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dauenhauer, who was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday.

She graduated from West Valley High School and was a homemaker.

Her husband, George Dauenhauer, died in 1995.

Mrs. Dauenhauer is survived by two daughters, Cherri Massender of Spokane and Traci Tabor of Kennewick; a son, Brian Towles of Spokane; a sister, Mary Wallace of Sedro Woolley, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Steven Fenton Spokane

Graveside service for Steven Stoner Fenton, 45, was Monday at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mr. Fenton, a former longtime Elk resident, died Thursday.

He was born in Cottage Grove, Ore., and worked as a baker for Yoke’s Pac ‘N Save in Deer Park. He also worked at the Centennial Mill and Albertson’s.

Mr. Fenton moved to Spokane in 1989.

He is survived by a brother, Michael Fenton of Spokane; and a sister, Sharon Miller of Deer Park.

Nancy Crow Spokane

Funeral for Nancy Stella Crow is will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Crow, who was born in Lenore, Idaho, died Sunday. She was 96.

In 1921 she married Harry Crow. She was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress and quilt maker.

She was a 60-year Spokane resident and was a member of the Salvation Inn Christian Center.

Her husband died in 1962.

Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Rothgeb of Spokane and Dorothy Horne of Marion, Va.; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Inn Christian Center.

Patrick Angelo Spokane

Memorial service for Patrick A. Angelo, 66, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Angelo, who was born in Calder, Idaho, died July 30.

He was raised in St. Maries and served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1953.

Mr. Angelo graduated from Eastern Washington University and Gonzaga University. He had a Ph.D. in education.

He worked as a teacher in Post Falls, was a principal in Kahlotus, Wash., and was a superintendent in both Metalline Falls and Ione, Wash. He retired in 1970.

Mr. Angelo was a founder of the Parkinson Support Group.

Survivors include two sons, Steven St. George of Spokane and Michael Angelo of Cheney; a daughter, Kelly Allen of Spokane; a brother, Joseph Angelo of Spokane; and a sister, Joanne Rapp of St. Maries.

Carol Rasche Spokane

Private services for Carol A. Rasche, 51, will be held. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rasche, who died Saturday, was born in Astoria, Ore.

She was a 10-year Spokane resident and worked as a registered nurse for St. Luke’s.

Mrs. Rasche was involved in dog sports, including Schutzhund training.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Bruce; two sons, Scott Rasche of Spokane and Bruce Rasche of Corpus Christi, Texas; a sister, Anita Bainbridge of Portland; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Amelia Bacca Moscow, Idaho

Burial Mass for Amelia Bacca, 89, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potlatch, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Potlatch Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bacca, who was born in Nanno, Italy, died Thursday.

In 1931 she married James Bacca in Nanno, and they immigrated to the United States and settled in Potlatch.

They later lived in Onaway, Idaho, where she was a homemaker. She moved to Moscow one year ago.

Mrs. Bacca was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar Society in Potlatch.

Her husband died in 1986.

She is survived by a son, Louis Bacca of Moscow; four daughters, Nora Bruya of Spokane, Alice Hofmann of Rosalia, Wash., Ida Wolheter of Potlatch and Anna McNett of King City, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Erna Claridge Spokane

Service for Erna Claridge, 85, is scheduled for Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chinook, Mont. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Claridge, who was born in Fort Morgan, Colo., died Friday.

She worked as a cook for a grade school in Zurich, Mont., and in 1931 married Orpheus Claridge.

Mrs. Claridge moved to Spokane in 1985 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chinook, the U-Go-I-Go in Zurich and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Spokane.

Her husband died in 1988.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Grennell of Spokane and Elsie Werner of Greenacres; a sister, Elsie Delay of Spokane; a brother, Adolph Steinmetz of Chinook; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
