Connie Herrmann Receives Nursing Excellence Award

Connie Herrmann received Holy Family Hospital’s annual Nursing Excellence Award.

Herrmann graduated from the registered nurse course at Spokane Community College in 1977 and received her certification in medical surgery nursing in 1991.

She has been an employee at Holy Family for 26 years.

Three area college students received $1,000 scholarships from the Spokane Transportation Club.

The students and their schools are: Michael G.L. Sells, Washington State University; Britton Warren, University of Idaho; and Christina Mease, Eastern Washington University.

Seattle Pacific University has granted scholarships to several Spokane-area graduating high school students.

Those receiving the Dean’s Scholar Award of $3,000 and their schools are: Mary Bass and Nathaniel Bowie, Shadle Park; John Harnetiaux and Andrew Oranen, Lewis and Clark; Katie Johnson, Ryan Nash, Rachae Probst and Jamie Withrow, Mead; and Ellen Picken, East Valley.

Students receiving the Provost’s Scholar award of $4,000 are: Monica Abrahamson and Elise Burger, Rogers; Shaun Cammack, Lewis and Clark; Staci Haye and Allison Lancaster, East Valley; Holly Kirschke, Ferris; Bethany Luck, Mead; Sarah McLaughlin, Gonzaga Prep; and Amber Porter, Shadle Park.

Michael Gipstein graduated from Brown University in Providence, R.I., with a degree in public policy and American institutions. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Brian Gipstein, Spokane.
