Earthquake Shakes Tetons

A light earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.2 was felt Sunday afternoon along the Idaho-Wyoming border, the National Geological Survey said.

The federal agency, headquartered in the Virginia countryside near Washington, said the main tremor was preceded by a 3.2 magnitude foreshock, which occurred 3 minutes earlier.

The main earthquake happened at 12:16 MDT. It was felt in Teton Valley, Idaho and in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, the survey reported.

The quake was centered along the Idaho-Wyoming border about 30 miles north-northwest of Jackson, Wyo., or 40 miles east of Rexburg, Idaho.

No damage was reported.
