Dollar Falls Against Yen
The dollar fell sharply Wednesday against the Japanese yen and was mixed against other foreign currencies. Trading was light.
Kevin Harris, international economist at MCM Currencywatch in New York, blamed the dollar’s decline against the yen on overnight comments from Japanese Finance Minister Kiichi Miyazawa in which he supported the case for a weaker dollar.
Miyazawa was quoted by the Kyodo News Service as saying the United States prefers the dollar to trade in a 110- to 120-yen range.
