Inland Power Will Issue Refund Checks

From Staff

More than 13,000 current and former Inland Power & Light Co. members will soon receive refund checks from the Spokane-based electric cooperative.

Assistant Manager Kris Mikkelsen said the capital credits represent profits earned through the year 1983. As a cooperative, Inland returns those funds to people who were members in years credits were earned.

She said Inland has repaid about $7 million so far this decade.

Inland General Manager Richard Heitman noted the cooperative has also reduced electricity rates more than 15 percent the last two years.

“We will continue to work to keep costs down so we can continue to offer low rates and still refund capital credits to our customers,” he said.

Inland serves 30,000 members living along the Idaho-Washington border.
