Edna Anderson Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Edna Georgie Anderson, 76, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Anderson, who was born in North Dakota, died Monday.
She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1936 and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School. She worked as a welder in the shipyards in San Francisco during World War II.
Mrs. Anderson returned to Coeur d’Alene after the war and co-owned Wally’s Drive-In and later worked at Kaiser Aluminum.
She then worked in the Kootenai County treasurer’s office and owned Mode O’Day Shop before moving to Lincoln City, Ore.
Mrs. Anderson returned to Coeur d’Alene in 1981 and helped organize the Coeur d’Alene Homes Trading Post. She served as treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church and president of the TLC Women.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, H.J.; a son, Mark Anderson; seven brothers and sisters, Donald Jensen, Frances Stewart, Avis Jensen, Phyllis Bacon, LaDonna Boothe, Lorraine Hanks and Janet Warren; and two granddaughters.

Agnes Baker Ephrata, Wash.
Funeral for Agnes K. Baker, 85, is planned for 11:30 a.m. today at Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata. Burial will be Friday at the Spirit Lake (Idaho) Cemetery.
Mrs. Baker, who was born in Spirit Lake, died Sunday.
She married Andy Baker in 1933 and they moved to Ephrata in 1962. They owned and operated Baker Jewelry Store until their retirement in 1992.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, and was past matron and member of the Colville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was also a member and past president of the Son’s of Norway in Moses Lake.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Virginia Carter of Post Falls; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Edward Groeger Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Edward J. Groeger, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Groeger, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.
He grew up in Spokane and graduated from Rogers High School. He then served with the Army during World War II.
Mr. Groeger worked as a railroad conductor and moved to Coeur d’Alene two years ago.
He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a HAM radio operator.
His first wife, Mary Jane, died in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel; two sons, Victor Groeger of Kent, Wash., and Charles Groeger of Seattle; two stepsons, Michael Keeney of Spokane and Melvin Keeney of Post Falls; a stepdaughter, JoAnne Lindquist of St. John, Wash.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Helen Winther Spokane
Visitation for Helen D. Winther, 69, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mrs. Winther, who was born in Mobridge, S.D., died Monday.
She graduated from Custer High School in Miles City, Mont., in 1947 and married Earl Winther in 1950.
Mrs. Winther worked for the First National Bank in Miles City for 10 years.
She was a volunteer and served as volunteer coordinator at the Ada County Food Distribution Center in Boise in 1969. Mrs. Winther was a life member of the Beta Sigma Phi in Miles City.
Mrs. Winther lived in San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Boise, Moscow, Idaho, and Vancouver, Wash., before settling in Spokane 12 years ago.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Scott Winther of Potlatch, Idaho; a sister, Jean Sumer of Miles City, Mont.; and two grandsons.

Christopher Weiland Harrison, Idaho
Service for Christopher Scott Weiland, 34, will be today at 11 a.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Harrison City Cemetery.
Mr. Weiland, who was born in Huntington Beach, Calif., died Tuesday from injuries received in an automobile accident near Harrison.
He graduated from high school in Huntington Beach in 1982 and was a self-employed building contractor.
Mr. Weiland moved to Harrison in 1994.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Linda Weiland of Harrison; a sister, Deborah Weiland of California; and his companion, Vicki Reichow of Harrison.
Maxine Hill Silverton, Idaho
Memorial service for Maxine Hill, 79, was Wednesday at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Spirit Lake Cemetery.
Mrs. Hill, who was born in Sterling, Idaho, died Sunday.
She lived in Spokane before moving to the Wallace area in 1953 and was a beautician in the Silver Valley for many years.
She later moved to Silverton.
Mrs. Hill was a member and past president of the Cataldo Ladies Club.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Don; a son, Phil Hodges of Pinehurst; a daughter, Marsha McIntee of Hayden, Idaho; a brother, James Roney of Colorado; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Frances Fehling Coeur d’Alene
No service will be held for Frances Pearl Fehling, 86, at her request. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fehling, who was born in Harrison, Idaho, died Wednesday.
She grew up in Harrison and was educated in Carlin Bay and worked on the family farm.
Mrs. Fehling lived in Medimont, Idaho, near Rose Lake before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1955.
She worked for the Forest Service nursery until 1973 and was a past member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge.
Her husband, John, died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Eugene Fehling of Blanchard, Idaho; a daughter, Betty Rumelhart of Sequim, Wash.; a brother, Eugene Asbury of Hayden Lake, Idaho; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Henry ‘Bud’ Chapin Spokane
No service will be held for Henry I. “Bud” Chapin, 87, at his request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 52-year resident of Spokane, Mr. Chapin died Monday.
Born in Tacoma, he served with the Army during World War II and the Korean War, and later worked as a cement mason and general contractor.
Mr. Chapin was a member of Plasterers and Cement Finishers Union Local 72 and a 40-year member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2.
His wife, Doris, died in 1984.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Jean Nesbitt of Spokane and Barbara Pflugrad of Hayden Lake, Idaho; and a sister, Helen Scoggan of Sparks, Nev.
Maria Cozza Spokane
Vigil for Maria Cozza, 65, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Cozza, who died Monday, was born in Italy.
She was a 29-year Spokane resident and worked as a maintenance engineer for a furniture company.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, American Italian Club, and the Eagles and Moose lodge auxiliaries.
Her husband, Benedetto, died in 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Francesco and Benedetto Cozza, Jr., both of Spokane; two daughters, Teresa Blackwell of Spokane and Angela Blackwell of Portland; three brothers, Antonio and Pepeino Monaco, both of Italy, and Biagio Monaco of Canada; and seven grandchildren.
Velma Wiley Spokane
No service will be held for Velma R. Wiley, 83, at her request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Wiley died Monday.
She attended Kinman Business College and later worked as a custodian for Eastern Washington University for several years.
Her husband, Harvey, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three stepchildren and several nieces and nephews.
