Police Arrest Another Suspect In North Side Burglary Ring

From Staff

Spokane police continued their efforts Tuesday to break up a ring of thieves suspected of preying on North Side residents and business owners.

Officers arrested 27-year-old Shawn A. Barton about 9 p.m., several hours after he was spotted driving a stolen car on North Hogan, police said.

Barton was booked into the county jail on an outstanding drug warrant, and on suspicion of car theft and residential burglary.

Detectives believe he is one of at least four people responsible for numerous car thefts, burglaries and shopliftings in the area around NorthTown Mall recently.

Three others, including an 11-year-old boy, were arrested Monday.

Police said the Honda sedan Barton was driving Tuesday night was stolen by one of the people arrested Monday.
