Wildcats Chase Panthers To End

Mead went on a 15-0 run to open the second half, then Dan Stucky hit two free throws with 13 seconds to play as the Panthers held off Mt. Spokane 47-43 at Mead as the Greater Spokane League boys basketball season opened Friday night.
The Wildcats, winless in league games their first year, opened a 22-17 halftime lead before the Panthers clawed back to go up by 10.
Mt. Spokane got back within three with 2 minutes to go when Randy Degenhart swished a 3. The Wildcats countered with a pair of 3s by Matt Tabisz before Stucky’s heroics.
Tabisz finished with 16 points and Stucky had 13. Andy Zelinski led Mead with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Dashawn Bedford had a career-high 19 points to lead four players in double figures as the Pirates held off the Highlanders at Shadle Park.
Rogers made 20 of 23 free throws to offset the 3-point shooting of the Highlanders.
