Concert Will Aid Striking Workers
A concert to benefit striking Kaiser workers takes place tonight at the Coeur d’Alene Greyhound Park.
The doors open at 6 p.m. for a craft sale and concessions.
Rod Erickson and the Fireside Gang, a country-western band, will take the stage at 7 p.m. The program also will feature the Inland Empire Cowboy Poets and Musicians.
Cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under, or $12 for a family of four or more.
To reach the Greyhound Park, take the Pleasant View exit from Interstate 90.
Proceeds will benefit families in greatest need at the Trentwood and Mead plants, said Karen Boshear, co-organizer of the benefit concert. Any leftover funds will be given to local charities.
Organizers are hoping for a crowd of 400 or more. The Greyhound Park will be set up for 700 people, Boshear said.
The concert is a time for “laughing and smiling” despite the economic difficulties many families are facing, she said.
