Local Police Arrest Carjacking Suspect
Police arrested a 32-year-old man on Monday evening wanted for an east Spokane carjacking.
Ira Erwin “Buddy” Call, 32, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery. Police say he stole a 1986 Nissan Maxima at knife-point from a Kmart parking lot last Thursday.
Patrol officers, acting on a citizen’s tip, spotted Call about 6 p.m. near his home at 108 S. Greene. He fled through a residential area, climbing a fence topped with barbed wire before surrendering to police.
He was treated at Sacred Heart Medical Center for cuts on his hands and arms, police said. Call was booked into the jail after being interviewed by a major crimes detective.
Police recovered the stolen car on Friday and arrested its occupants - Michael J. Charles, 21, and Cynthia R. McCoy, 20. But police determined that the two were not responsible for the robbery, and asked the public on Monday afternoon for information leading to the arrest of Call.
No one was hurt in the carjacking.
