Bryan Parker Commissioned Second Lieutenant In Reserve

Nine Inland Northwest residents have recently made military news.

Bryan D. Parker has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Reserve after graduating from Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Ala.

Parker is the son of retired Air Force Lt. Col. Lyle and Laurel Parker, Spokane.

Army National Guard Pvts. Jeromy R. Davenport and Bryan R. Nelson graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo.

Davenport is the son of Terri and Gary Davenport, Spokane.

Nelson is the son of Cynthia Nelson and Vern Holzer, Spokane.

Army Pvts. Josh L. Davis and Surely Vang graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Davis is the son of Donald Davis, Spokane, and Sandy Davis, Seattle.

Vang, son of Julie and Paoly Vang, Spokane, is a 1998 graduate of Rogers High School.

Army First Lt. Nathaniel W. Peters, a member of Alpha Company, First Battalion, 508th Airborne Combat Team, has participated in a rotational training exercise at Combat Maneuvers Training Center in Hohenfels, Germany.

Peters, a fire support officer, is the son of Lester and Sheila Peters, Spokane. He is a 1992 graduate of West Valley High School and a 1996 West Point graduate.

Air Force Airmen Clifford A. Otto III and Joel G. Frogner graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Otto is the son of Clifford Otto Jr., Airway Heights.

Frogner is the son of Gordon and Karen Frogner, Colbert.

Air Force Maj. John E. Boyle participated in a three-week North Atlantic Treaty Organization exercise termed “Central Enterprise,” at a Royal Air Force Base near Gloucestershire, England.

Boyle, son of Beverly Boyle, Spokane, is a 1973 graduate of Mead High School, and a 1977 graduate of Whitworth College. He also earned a master’s degree from Arizona State University.

Lewis H. Orland, associate dean of Gonzaga University’s School of Law, was honored by the Washington State Bar Association with its Lifetime Service Award.

Orland has studied law for more than 60 years. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School and was admitted to the Idaho State Bar in 1940 and the Washington State Bar in 1950, when he joined GU.
