Ference Makes First Cut

Spokane Chiefs defenseman Brad Ference survived the first cut at selection camp in Winnipeg with Team Canada.

Four Western Hockey League players were released Wednesday from the team that will compete in the World Junior Tournament later this month in Winnipeg. They are defenseman Burke Henry of Brandon, Tri-City forward Dylan Gyori, Kamloops forward Mike Brown and Regina forward Brett Lysak.

Four players will be let go Friday and another four on Sunday. Seattle at Spokane Friday, 7 p.m. at the Arena
