Dollar Falls Against Yen, Mark

The dollar fell against the Japanese yen and German mark, and was mixed against most other major currencies Thursday as currency traders shrugged off Wednesday’s start of the U.S. military strike on Iraq.

“The dollar has turned back to pre-attack levels,” said Robert Podorefsky, foreign exchange strategist at Bank of Boston. “We got one-day jolt on a twist in this story.”

The dollar had risen Wednesday in advance of the airstrikes.
