We heard from a Spokane woman whose family enjoys delivering surprise Christmas cookies to neighbors’ porches after dark.

This year, one of the neighbors called the police.

West Side story: “I recently renewed my driver’s license while I was visiting family in the Vancouver area,” wrote Adam Yonck. “When asked what county Newport was in, I replied ‘Pend Oreille.’

“The examiner checked his computer, looked at me and said that there was no such county.”

Yonck suggested that would be news to the people who live there.

Eventually things got cleared up. But the examiner declined to admit he was an arrogant twit ignorant about Washington geography.

One reader’s pet peeve: Drivers who switch on their fog lights when there isn’t any fog. “Sometimes it’s like having a wall of lights coming at you,” he said.

One of the Northwest’s more entertaining spectator sports: Watching people who pretend to maintain a link to ‘60s counterculture sensibilities freak out when something threatens their property values.

Kid stuff: We heard about a 4-year-old boy who was playing with a Nativity set. He expressed his opinion about the innkeeper by placing that figure back behind the barn.

Then there was this lad who hasn’t quite turned 4 yet. He saw a commercial for a game called “Perfection” and subsequently informed his mom that he wanted “Pop Up Infection” for Christmas.

Today’s Slice question: What possible explanation can there be for the St. George’s girls beating St. Michael’s 100-11 the other day?
