John Engle Spokane

Memorial service for John Stanley Engle, 61, will be at 2 p.m. today at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 25-year Spokane resident, Mr. Engle died Dec. 12. He was born in Carbondale, Pa.

Mr. Engle was a retired technical sergeant and ammunitions expert, serving three years in the Marine Corps and 17 years in the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; six children, Holly Evans, Rhonda Burns, Kelly Smith and Darin Engle, all of Seattle, Terri Hobbs of Council, Idaho, and Jeff Rorvig of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, Paul Engle of New York; two sisters, Barbara Engle and JoAnn Hughes, both of New York; and 19 grandchildren.

Naomi Pintler Lynnwood, Wash.

Memorial service for Naomi Ruth Pintler, 81, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Millwood Presbyterian Church in Spokane. Purdy and Walters Funeral Home at Floral Hills in Lynnwood is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pintler, who was born in Withrow, Wash., died Sunday.

She graduated from Waterville (Wash.) High School in 1935 and attended Washington State University and Eastern Washington University.

In 1941 she married Ernest Pintler and they lived in the Spokane Valley for several years.

Mrs. Pintler worked as a claims adjuster for Aetna Insurance, retiring in 1974.

Her husband died in 1988, and she moved to Lynwood in 1991.

Survivors include three sons, Gail Pintler of Lynnwood, Curt Pintler of Puyallup, Wash., and Preston Pintler of California; a brother, Myron Estill of Montana; a sister, Polly Burke of Spokane; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Betty Hahn Spokane

Memorial service for Betty Jean Hahn, 74, will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 28 at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hahn, who was born in Yakima, died Wednesday.

She moved to Liberty Lake in 1941 and retired as a supervisor from Key Tronic in 1987.

Her husband, Harold Hahn, died in 1994.

Survivors include four sons, Michael Curry of Moses Lake, Charles Curry of Liberty Lake, David Curry of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Robert Marshall of Bakersfield, Calif.; a daughter, Janis Copher of Newman Lake; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Le ‘Orvil’ Williams Spokane

A memorial open house for Le “Orvil” Williams, 36, was Friday.

A 10-year Spokane resident, Mr. Williams died Tuesday. He was born in Price, Utah.

He worked as a laborer in clothing manufacturing and was active in several fund-raising efforts, especially for children with AIDS.

Survivors include his companion, Layton Byre of Spokane; a daughter, Nina; his parents, Orvil and Sue Williams of Helper, Utah; two sisters, Malinda Williams Dunnam of Taos, N.M., and Jeane Williams Alfaro of Price; two brothers, Pat Williams of Port Orchard, Wash., and Ralph Williams of Elmo, Utah; his grandmothers, Daisy Brazier and Sylvia Clerico, both of Price, and Inas Williams of Elmo.

Bruce Tiffany Spokane

Funeral for Bruce D. Tiffany, 82, is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.

Born in Aberdeen, S.D., Mr. Tiffany died Tuesday.

He was a 60-year Spokane resident.

He served as a captain in the Army during World War II and later received a degree in hotel and restaurant management from Cornell College in New York.

Mr. Tiffany worked as the restaurant and catering manager at Hotel Spokane for several years and later worked as an innkeeper for the Holiday Inn.

He was a member of The Spokane Club and The Exchange Club.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Pat; two brothers, David Tiffany of Rapid City, S.D., and Burton Tiffany of Chula Vista, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Exchange Club Foundation.

Ann Potter Liberty Lake

Memorial service for Ann L. Potter, 62, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty Lake Community Church. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Potter, who was born in Prestonburg, Ky., died Wednesday.

She attended Bowling Green (Ohio) University before her marriage to Earl Potter in 1951.

The couple lived in Southern California for 16 years before moving to the Northwest in 1968. Mrs. Potter had been a resident of Liberty Lake since 1973.

She was a homemaker and member of the Liberty Lake Community Church. She was also a member of a special Bible study group for the past 20 years.

Her husband died last January.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Thomas of Spokane and Jeri Schaffner of Coeur d’Alene; two sons, Steve Potter of Yakima and Glenn Potter of Spokane; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Lake Community Church.

Marie Schuck Sprague, Wash.

Graveside service for Marie M. Schuck, 96, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Macabee Cemetery in Sprague. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Ritzville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schuck, who was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., died Wednesday.

She lived in Montana for several years where she worked in a butcher shop and for the telephone company.

In 1937 she moved to Sprague and was a homemaker and worked for Mike Davis in his store and hotel. Mrs. Schuck also was a housekeeper for the elderly.

Her husband, Augustus, died in 1963.

There are no surviving family members.
