Myrtle Beitey Ingman Spokane

Myrtle “Myrt” (Stenhouse) Beitey Ingman, celebrates her 100th birthday today.

Ingman was born in 1898 in Brockville, Ontario, and moved to Eastern Washington 92 years ago.

In 1919 she married Fred Beitey. He died in 1951. She later married Warren Ingman. He died in the late 1950s.

She was a bookkeeper for Kehoe Hardware in Hillyard and, before her sight began to fail, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, craft work, playing bridge, reading, and entertaining family and friends.

Her son, Robert Beitey, died in 1986. She has three grandsons, four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Ingman attributes her long life to the “will of the Lord.” Joyce Beitey, her former daughter-in-law, tells her she hasn’t touched enough lives, and the Lord doesn’t want her yet. She laughs and says, “And the devil won’t have me.”
