Dollar Mixed On Lackluster Day

The dollar was mixed against major currencies Tuesday, as trading continued to taper off heading into the long holiday weekend.

“It’s been pretty lackluster,” said Christian Laland, a dealer at Norwest Bank Corp. in Minneapolis.

Traders said the dollar drifted lower against some currencies after the Federal Reserve announced that it was not cutting interest rates.

In late New York trading Tuesday, the dollar bought 116.65 Japanese yen, up from 116.21 yen in late Monday trading.
