Two grocery store employees disarmed a 17-year-old Spokane Valley thief Tuesday morning, sheriff’s deputies said.

Employees working at Albertsons at 10 N. Pines Road said they saw a 17-year-old boy try to shoplift a bottle of wine.

When an employee grabbed the boy, he pulled out a .22-caliber revolver from his clothes and pointed it at the worker.

Another clerk grabbed the gun barrel and pulled it from the teenager’s grasp. The pistol was loaded, but no shots were fired.

The boy was arrested and booked into juvenile detention on a first-degree robbery charge.
