Robert Allured Bonners Ferry, Idaho
Memorial service for Robert N. Allured, 77, will be held at a later date in Bonners Ferry. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Allured, who was born in Billings, Mont., died Monday.
In his youth he had lived in Pullman, Kellogg and St. Maries, and then graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1940.
Mr. Allured served with the Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. He later returned to the Pullman area.
He graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor of arts degree in 1951 and also attended the Los Angeles Art Institute.
Mr. Allured lived in Spokane until 1954, when he moved to Bonners Ferry, to teach at the high school. He retired in 1983.
His wife of 37 years, Ruth, died in 1982.
Mr. Allured was a member of Bonners Ferry United Methodist Church, Mirror Lake Mens Golf Association and American Legion Post 55.
Survivors include a son, Gordon Allured of Portland; a daughter, Nancy Bender of St. Maries; a sister, Barbara Pickett of Spokane; and one granddaughter, Allison.

Laura (Nelson) Goldsmith Kellogg
Service for Laura Marie (Nelson) Goldsmith, 90, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg.
Mrs. Goldsmith, who was born in Minnesota, died Saturday.
She was a farmer in Minnesota and in the late 1940s moved to Kellogg, where she worked at the Bunker Hill Zinc Plant. She was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Goldsmith was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey.
Survivors include two sons, Andrew Nelson of Florida and Charles Shortridge of Montana; seven daughters, Laurie Gottman of Missouri, Alice Conrad of Iowa, Barbara Neil of Florida, Marge Simpson of Bremerton, Theone Pettit of Coeur d’Alene, Bonnie Boehm of Post Falls and Aubrea Gilman of Spokane; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Ruth Osler Spokane
No service will be held for Ruth M. Osler, 77, at her request. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Osler, who was born in Germany, died Tuesday.
A 34-year Spokane resident she worked as a maid for various hotels for many years.
She was a member of the German American Society.
Kenneth Mitchell Fernwood, Idaho
Service for Kenneth D. Mitchell, 52, was held Wednesday at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Mr. Mitchell, who was born in Wisconsin, died Tuesday.
He grew up in Minnesota and graduated from high school in 1964. He served with the Navy for one year.
Mr. Mitchell worked as a logger in the Bahamas after his military service and moved to the Silver Valley, where he worked as a gold miner in the Murray/Prichard, Idaho, area.
He later lived in Coeur d’Alene before moving to Fernwood and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Emerald Creek Garnet Mine.
Survivors include his wife, Lynda; two sons, Chris Mitchell of Wisconsin and Kenneth Mitchell of Fernwood; a daughter, Kim Holst of Pasco, Wash.; three stepdaughters, Miranda Grieser of St. Maries, and Marlena and Laci Mills, both of Fernwood; a sister, Sherry Dubin of Kennewick, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
William Ragon Colfax, Wash.
Private graveside service for William “Bill” Ragon, 83, will be held today at 11 a.m at Oakesdale (Wash.) Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ragon, who was born in Colfax, died Monday.
He was a farmer in the Steptoe-Oakesdale, Wash., area for several years.
Mr. Ragon was a member of the Lewiston Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Maravene; a son, Michael Ragon of Quilcene, Wash.; two daughters, Karen Ostlund and Susan Ragon, both of Spokane; five grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary ‘Mae’ Mead Spokane
Funeral service for Mary L. “Mae” Mead, 87, was held Tuesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Eau Claire, Wis.
A 66-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Mead died Saturday. She was born in Eau Claire, Wis.
She worked as a financial executive secretary and was a delegate to the state democratic convention.
Mrs. Mead was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Jane Jefferson Club and the Democratic Women’s Club. She was charter member and executive secretary for Wonder-Hostess Federal Credit Union.
Survivors include two sons, John Mead of Seattle and James Mead of Wilton, Conn.; a daughter, Kay Reilly of Spokane; a sister, Ruth Watkins of Eau Claire; and nine grandchildren Memorial contributions may be made to Crosswalk.
Warren Ruen Clark Fork, Idaho
Service for Warren O. Ruen, 50, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Sandpoint United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ruen, who was born in Sandpoint, died Saturday.
He grew up in Clark Fork, and graduated from high school there. He was active in 4-H, had played football and basketball, and had also played in a college jazz band.
Mr. Ruen later served in the Army’s 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, including the Tet Offensive. He later returned to the Clark Fork area.
He owned Ruen Family Farms in Clark Fork and also worked in the timber industry.
Mr. Ruen was active in local, state and county conservation districts, serving as both president and director, and also served as director of the Natural Resources Youth Camp on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
A conservationist, he was involved with the Idaho Bull Trout Recovery Program.
Survivors include three sons, Justin and Travis Ruen, both of Moscow, Idaho, and Matthew Ruen of Rathdrum, Idaho; a sister, Colene Dawson of Clark Fork; and a brother, Lowell Ruen of Spokane.

Patricia Green Madison Spokane
Visitation for Patricia Ann Green Madison, 57, will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. Burial will follow.
Mrs. Green Madison, who was born in Alcoa, Tenn., died Saturday.
She was a 56-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, William; two sons, Scott Piazza of Spokane and Troy Piazza of Glendale, Ariz.; three brothers, Jack, Tom and Doug Madison; two sisters, Joyce Nelson and June Williams; and three grandchildren.
Recil Wolfe Spokane
Graveside service for Recil M. Wolfe, 78, was held Tuesday at the Pines Mausoleum. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A 21-year Spokane resident, Mr. Wolfe died Friday. He was born in Wallowa, Ore.
He worked as an electrican in the construction business for many years.
Mr. Wolfe was a member of the River of Life Hope and Bible Church in Otis Orchards.
His wife, Esther, died in 1995.
Robert Schultz Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Robert Henry Schultz, 63, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden (Idaho) Chapel. A potluck reception will follow at the Yates Hayden Chapel Gathering Center.
Mr. Schultz, who was born in Iowa, died Sunday.
He grew up in Rathdrum, Idaho, and graduated from high school there in 1954. He served with the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Schultz returned to the Coeur d’Alene area and worked for the Potlatch Lumber Co., before working for Louisiana Pacific in Chilco, Idaho, where he became plant manager. He retired in 1989.
He sold real estate after his retirement and was a member of Rathdrum United Methodist Church, the Hayden Eagles Lodge and the Post Falls American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Gloria; two sons, Rocky Schultz of Post Falls and Rob Schultz of Coeur d’Alene; three daughters, Laura Spencer of Kuna, Idaho, Janis Cooper of Kent, Wash., and Kim Krier of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers, Duane and Dick Schultz, both of Post Falls; four sisters, Ellen Langston of Florida, Dolores Singer of Rathdrum, Rita Walls of Oregon and Diane Pope of Hayden; and 11 grandchildren.

Rita (Reisenauer) Grassl Colton, Wash.
Funeral mass for Rita (Reisenauer) Grassl, 73, was held Wednesday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Colton. Burial followed at St. Gall Catholic Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Grassl, who was born in Colton, died Saturday.
In 1943 she graduated from Colton High School and in 1951 married Jerry Grassl.
Mrs. Grassl was a farmer, a homemaker and a seamstress. She also was a correspondent for the Lewiston Morning Tribune in Lewiston, Idaho, for several years.
Mrs. Grassl was a member of the St. Gall Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Colton Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband; five children, Jeff Grassl and Sharon Fisher, both of Spokane, Chris Grassl of Uniontown, Wash., Phyllis Heuett of Kelso, Wash., and Keri Grassl-Broglio of Redmond, Wash.; three sisters, Jan Kramer and Ang Wittman, both of Colton, and Virginia Miller of Beaver Creek, Ore.; a brother, Jerry Reisenauer of Genesee, Idaho; and 12 grandchildren.
