Howard Kilgore Garfield, Wash.

Memorial service for Howard G. Kilgore, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Farmington (Wash.) Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Inurnment at Mountain View Cemetery in Farmington will be held at a later date. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of the arrangements.

A 22-year Garfield resident, Mr. Kilgore, died Wednesday. He was born in Woodward, Okla.

In 1937 he married Eunice Birth and lived in Oklahoma City, where he was a baker.

In 1939 they moved to San Mateo, Calif.

He served with the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged in 1945 as a staff sergeant.

Mr. Kilgore later operated a floor-covering business in the San Francisco Bay area. He retired in 1976 and moved to Garfield.

He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Farmington, Carpet, Linoleum and Soft Tile Workers Union Local 12, and the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations.

His wife died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Robert Kilgore of Auburn, Wash.; a daughter, Linda Schroetlin of Garfield; a brother Jack Kilgore of Lodi, Calif.; a sister, Lois Cowan of Perryton, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Vern Ackerman Oldtown, Idaho

No service will be held for Vern Oliver Ackerman, 59, at the request of the family. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ackerman, who was born in Glendive, Mont., died Wednesday.

He worked as a driller in the oilfields in Wyoming for many years until he moved to Oldtown in 1986.

Survivors include his wife, Carole; and three brothers, John Ackerman of Potlatch, Idaho, Lon Ackerman of Beaverton, Ore., and Billy Ackerman of Oroville, Calif.

Charles Lucas Waldport, Ore.

Memorial service for Charles Marvin Lucas, 72, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Holy Cross Cemetery. Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, Ore. in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Lucas, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.

He married Ruby Glover in 1968 and worked as a pipe fitter for the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years.

He was transfered to Umatilla, Ore., in 1987. He retired in 1989 and moved to Waldport in 1995.

Mr. Lucas was a member of Eagles Aerie 2909 in Hermiston.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jack and Russell Lucas, both of Spokane, and Kelly Lucas of Portland; a daughter, Diane Lucas of Caldwell, Idaho; four stepsons, Richard and David David, both of Spokane, Gary David of Kennewick and Bill Davis Jr. of Bismark, N.D.; three stepdaughters, Vonda Waddington of Spokane, and Sharon and Barbara Davis, both of Kennewick; two brothers, Lawrence Lucas of Spokane and Richard Lucas of Walla Walla; five sisters, Suzanne Witter of Spokane, Blanche Lomen, Janene Blimka and Rita French, all of Clarkston, Wash., and Gloria Lowery of Coos Bay, Ore.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lambert Haupt Spokane

Funeral Mass for Lambert Haupt, 93, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Haupt, who was born in Uniontown, Wash., died Sunday.

A 53-year Spokane resident, he worked as a custodial engineer for School District 81 for 25 years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Eagles Aeries 2 and Engineers Union Local 370.

His wife, Ivernia, died in 1989.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry and Tom Haupt, both of Spokane, and Dick Haupt of Houston; a daughter, Cathy Doerr of Spokane; a sister, Bernadine Stravens of Colfax, Wash.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jean (Misener) Turner McCune, Kan.

Funeral for Jean (Misener) Turner, 58, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons, Kan. Burial will follow at McCune Cemetery.

Mrs. Turner, who was born in Elsinor, Calif., died Monday in Kansas City.

She graduated from high school in Anaheim, Calif..

She married David Turner in 1975.

They moved to Spokane in 1981 and operated an adult-care home on Moran Prairie for 14 years. They retired in 1995 and moved to Elk.

In 1998 she moved to McCune, Kan. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Brady Turner of McCune, Jeffrey Hustrom of Medford, Ore., and David Turner III of Fort Carson, Colo.; five daughters, Leola Rynsburger of Strathmore, Calif., Judy Broersma of Orange, Calif., Patricia Krebs of Chickasha, Okla., Paula Sanford of Tucson, Ariz., and Kristi Turner of McCune; a brother, Wayne Misener of Tonepah, Nev.; a sister, Nancy Nelson of Southern California; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ora (Fulton) Godfrey Newport, Wash.

Funeral service for Ora Frances (Fulton) Godfrey, 94, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. Burial will follow at the Newport Cemetery.

Mrs. Godfrey, who was born in the Oklahoma Territory, died Monday.

She worked as a operator in a veneer manufacturing plant for over 20 years in Nevada.

In 1974 she moved to Newport and lived there for five years before moving to Nevada. In 1986 she returned to Newport.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Calvin Freeland in 1969 and Don Godfrey.

Survivors include a son, Richard Freeland of Dalkena, Wash.

Earl ‘Papo’ Fegert Henderson, Nev.

Memorial service for Earl Rene’ “Papo” Fegert, 59, will be at 3 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church in Othello, Wash.. Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Fegert, who was born in Ely, Nev., died Sunday.

He graduated from Othello High School in 1957.

Mr. Fegert established Earl’s A&W in Othello before going into the construction business.

He owned and operated E.R. Fegert Inc., Sandrock and Target Construction in Othello for many years.

In 1985 he moved to Reno and operated a construction company.

Survivors include three sons, Jeff Fegert of Henderson, and Kevin and Keith Fegert, both of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Connie Lewallen of Idaho Falls and Willaine Hodges of Hermiston, Ore.; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Institute of Spokane or the Sacred Heart Medical Center Kidney Patient Fund.

Shirley Justice Desert Hot Springs, Calif.

Visitation for Shirley Emily Justice, 80, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Justice, died Dec. 19.

She was born in Cardston, Canada, and in 1973 married James Justice. She was a homemaker.

For the past 10 years, she and her husband traveled to California for the winters.

Mrs. Justice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Desert Hot Springs Ward.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Randy Rouse of Riverside; a daughter, Beverly Robertson of Spokane; two stepsons, James Justice of Spokane and Carl Justice of Bullhead City, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Gloria Shute of Otis Orchards; five grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
