Nancy Miller Spokane
Funeral for Nancy R. Miller, 65, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Miller died Friday. She was born in Polson, Mont.
She graduated from Rogers High School and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474 Auxiliary and the Eagles Lodge No. 2 Auxiliary. She was also active with the Trump-ettes card club for 40 years.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Charlie; a son, Ken Miller, and a daughter, Patty Santos-Cucalon, both of Spokane; her father, Clarence Bicha of Spokane; and three grandsons.

Robert Troy Spokane
Funeral for Robert L. Troy, 66, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Spokane Valley Baptist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 51-year Spokane resident, Mr. Troy died Wednesday. He was born in Los Angeles.
He graduated from West Valley High School in 1950 and served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.
Mr. Troy later worked for ABM Janitorial Services and for Kaiser Aluminum for 30 years. He retired in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; two sons, Tom Troy of Coeur d’Alene and Jerry Troy of Jackson, Mich.; a daughter, Kathy Jonquet of Rockford; a stepson, Doug Beal of Spokane; a stepdaughter, Lorie Beare of Post Falls; a sister, Betty Abramson of Lone Jack, Mo.; a brother, Harold Troy of Orangeville, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Milton Green Colville, Wash.
Funeral for Milton R. “Milt” Green, 77, will be at 2 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville. Graveside service will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville.
An 18-year Colville resident, Mr. Green died Dec. 22. He was born in Hunters, Wash.
He graduated from Davenport (Wash.) High School and served in the Army in Germany, and in the Central European campaigns during World War II.
Mr. Green was honorably discharged in 1946 and began working in the timber industry. He married his wife, Betty, in 1949.
He worked for several sawmills in Eastern Washington for many years. After his retirement he began working for the Colville Forest Service Senior Citizen’s Program.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Green of Colville; a son, Calvin Green of Winthrop, Wash.; a stepson; four sisters, Ruth Tarbert of Spokane, Allene Green of Davenport, Edna Reitmeier of Cheney and Faye Hruska of Mercer Island, Wash.; two brothers, Wesly Green of Davenport and Dale Green of Curlew, Wash.; and four granddaughters.

Bernard Luther Colfax, Wash.
Visitation for Bernard Luther, 82, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Wednesday at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Private family funeral is planned.
A lifetime Whitman County resident, Mr. Luther died Friday. He was born in Colfax.
He graduated from Colfax High School in 1933 and married Virginia Brooks in 1944.
Mr. Luther farmed the family farm west of Colfax until 1953, when he began working at the Colfax Grange.
In 1958 he moved to Lacrosse, Wash., where he owned and operated Lacrosse Building and Lumber Supply until 1969. He returned to Colfax and worked at the Colfax Grange.
In 1971 Mr. Luther became a deputy field assessor for Whitman County. He retired in 1981.
He was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church, the International Order of Odd Fellows and the Wilcox Grange.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bob Luther of Puyallup, Wash., and Steve Luther of Colfax; daughter, Wendy Stelmack of Choctaw, Okla., foster daughter, Carol Whitman of Pullman; and a brother, Clyde Luther of Lacrosse.
Robert Atwater Spokane
Memorial service for Robert Taft Atwater, 75, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Born in Spokane, Mr. Atwater died Sunday.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and the University of Washington, where he was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity.
Mr. Atwater served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He later worked as an accountant for Kaiser Aluminum and retired in 1990.
Survivors include a brother, Richard Atwater, and a sister, Nancy Rector, both of Spokane.

Evelyn Jesmore Spokane

A 70-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Jesmore died Thursday. She was born in Yakima.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Burt; a son, Patrick Jesmore of Crystal, Minn.; two daughters, Janyce Eckhardt and Kristie Jesmore, both of Spokane; two brothers, Robert O’Leary of Spokane and Donald O’Leary of Bayview, Idaho; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Dorene Guenther Spokane
Memorial Mass for Dorene A. Guenther, 69, will be at 3 p.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Private family burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Guenther, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.
She worked as a sales clerk at The Crescent department store for more than 10 years, and at Frederick and Nelson and the Bon Marche for several years.
Survivors include a son, John Guenther of Spokane; two daughters, Pam Provost and Janet Bayne, both of Spokane; her mother, Delia Liptac of Spokane; a brother, Otis Liptac, and a sister, Asylda Ross, both of Spokane; and eight grandchildren.

Georgia Shackelford Spokane

An 11-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Shackelford died Friday. She was born in Lexington, Ky.
She was a member of the Shilo Baptist Church in Lexington, Ky., for 50 years and was most recently a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Spokane.
Her husband, John, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, James Fisher, Sr., of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Gary Huffman Ephrata, Wash.
Memorial service for Gary L. Huffman, 47, will be at 2 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mr. Huffman, who was born in Everett, died Dec. 22.
He graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1970 and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Huffman earned an automotive degree from Spokane Community College in 1976 and worked as the service manager at Barry Chevrolet in Ephrata, Wash., for many years.
He was the past commander and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2900 in Soap Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Shirley.
Eleanor (Parks) Kohlhauff Spokane

Mrs. Kohlhauff, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and worked in the auditing department at The Crescent department store for many years.
Mrs. Kohlhauff was a charter member of the E.T.C. Philanthropy Club and was a member of several garden clubs. She had been a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church since 1944 and was a Boy Scout den mother.
Her husband, Edward, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Edward Kohlhauff; and two grandsons.
Darleen Vassar Kluss Moscow, Idaho
Rosary for Darleen L. Vassar Kluss, 66, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Genesee, Idaho. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Genesee.
Mrs. Kluss, who was born in South Dakota, died Thursday.
She grew up near Tensed, Idaho, and graduated from high school in Palouse, Wash., and attended beauty college in Spokane.
Mrs. Kluss lived in Palouse and moved to Potlatch, Idaho, in 1963. She worked at the White Pine Drug Store from 1968 until 1982.
She moved to Lewiston in 1982 and then lived in Colfax, Wash., Moscow, and Genesee.
She was a member of the Moscow Elks Lodge and the Catholic church.
Her first husband, Robert Vassar, died in 1986.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; a son, Damon Vassar of Pullman; a daughter, Linda Georgeson of Boise; a brother, Wyne Daman of DeSmet, Idaho; three sisters, Dollie Walker of Shelton, Wash., Maxine Mumua of Spokane and Laura Vandevender of Coeur d’Alene; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Marie Clements Spokane

Mrs. Clements, who was born in Rock County, Neb., died Saturday.
She lived in Walla Walla for 45 years where she worked in motel management. She moved to Spokane in 1984.
Mrs. Clements was a longtime member of Grace Methodist Church in Walla Walla.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Harold; a daughter, Lois of Spokane; two sons, Kenneth and Robert Clements, both of Spokane; a sister, Florence Cotter of Walla Walla; a brother, Walter Skeeters of Monroe, Wash.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchild.
George Karlin Spokane
Memorial service for George F. Karlin, 70, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.
A 35-year Spokane resident, Mr. Karlin died Friday. He was born in Tucson, Ariz.
He served in the Air Force during World War II and the Korean War, retiring in 1966.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Maureen; two sons, George Karlin Jr. of Spokane and Michael Karlin of Lewiston; two daughters, Noreen Bechard and Mary Breeden, both of Spokane; a sister, Dorothy Niles of Oroville, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Anna Noll Spokane
Visitation for Anna M. Noll, 81, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A 13-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Noll died Friday. She was born in Spokane.
She worked for the State of California for many years.
She was a member of the Sons of Norway, Opportunity Presbyterian Church, the Business and Professional Women’s Association, League of Women Voters and the California State Employees’ Union.
Her husband, Arthur, died in 1973.
Mrs. Noll is survived by a son, Arthur Noll of Spokane.

Iola King Otis Orchards

A 50-year Spokane-area resident, Mrs. King died Saturday. She was born in Plum City, Wis.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Warren, died in 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Vargie Williams of Spokane and Sharon Gordon of Otis Orchards; a son, Marvin King of Newman Lake; a brother, Duane Hofmeister of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Harold Davidson Pullman
Memorial service for Harold Lee Davidson, 59, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Davidson, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.
He graduated from North Central High School and moved to Kent, Wash., where he worked for Boeing for four years.
Mr. Davidson then returned to Spokane and worked as a mechanic in several garages before working as the service manager for McCollum Ford for 16 years.
He married Merrilie Nevdahl in 1963 and they were later divorced. In 1976 he moved to Pullman, working as the service manager at Delta Ford in Moscow, Idaho, until 1984. He then began working as the service manger for Zimmer Motors in Pullman.
In 1986 he started working as a tow truck operator for Dick Giovi and in 1992 married June Worthington.
Mr. Davidson had been working as a tow truck operator for Steve Myers Auto and Towing in Pullman at the time of his death.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Good Sam’s RV Club.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Danette Farr of Pullman and Debbie Davidson of Puyallup, Wash.; a stepson, Gary Goldsby of Tualatin, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Susan Young of Sitka, Alaska, and Lori Hart of California; two sisters, Janice Batchelor and Sharon Armour, both of Spokane; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Phillip Hoerner Spokane

A 48-year Spokane resident, Mr. Hoerner died Saturday. He was born in Glen Ullin, N.D.
He worked as a farmer and a coal miner and was a volunteer firefighter in North Dakota before moving to Spokane.
Mr. Hoerner worked at Balzar’s Nursery before becoming a refuse truck driver for the City of Spokane, where he worked for 40 years.
Mrs. Hoerner was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Magdalena; two daughters, Jeanette Bullis of Spokane and Helen Heidt of North Dakota; two sons, LeRoy Hoerner of Spokane and Robert Hoerner of Tacoma; numerous brothers and sisters; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mildred (McNair) Robinson Spokane
Visitation for Mildred (McNair) Robinson, 72, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. No service will be held at her request. Burial will be at the St. John (Wash.) Cemetery.
A 60-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Robinson died Saturday.
She was born in St. John and was a homemaker.
Her husband, Harold, died last May.
She is survived by a brother, Clare Hamilton.

Murray Harrison Spokane
Visitation for Murray Lee Harrison, 84, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Thursday at Valley Fourth Memorial Church.
Mr. Harrison, who was born in Rush Springs, Okla., died Thursday.
He served in the European Theater during World War II and later worked at Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood for 30 years.
Mr. Harrison was a member of the Valley Fourth Memorial Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carol; a daughter, Lynn Pankonin; a brother, George Harrison; and a sister, Marie Cullen.

Willard Shepherd Colfax, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Willard R. Shepherd, 77, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Steptoe, Wash. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Shepherd, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.
He lived in Priest Lake, Idaho, and Newport, Wash., before joining the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Mr. Shepherd then served in the Air Force during World War II. He was a prisoner of war.
He moved to Whitman County 40 years ago and worked as a cement mason on dams and hospitals.
In 1968 he married Mildred Semler White and worked at Washington State University, retiring in 1982. He also did saw sharpening and small engine repair out of his home.
Mr. Shepherd was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Colfax Eagles Lodge, American Legion and the Northwest Laborers Union.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Charlene Cook Benton and Barbara Whitney, both of Rockford; three sons, Roger Shepherd of Spokane, Raymond Shepherd of Medical Lake and James Shepherd of Airway Heights; three stepchildren, Kim Utke of Spokane, Ivan White of Sunnyside, Wash., and Frank White of Colfax; two brothers, Herbert Shepherd of Newport and William Thomas of Yuma, Ariz.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Esther Crumb Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Esther Harriet Crumb, 86, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Crumb, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.
She grew up in Potlatch and Coeur d’Alene, where she graduated from high school. Mrs. Crumb attended Kinman Business College in Spokane and returned to Coeur d’Alene and worked for Blackwell Lumber Co.
She later worked as a secretary for Rodell Motors. She was the treasurer of the Coeur d’Alene Teachers Credit Union for 25 years and served as manager.
Mrs. Crumb was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a past board member of the Public Employees Credit Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 1963.
Survivors include a son, Eugene Crumb of Kent, Wash.; and four grandchildren, Lisa, Eddy, Genia, and Evan.

Hugh Costigan Spokane
Funeral Mass for Hugh M. Costigan, 88, was Monday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Costigan died Wednesday.
He graduated from Gonzaga University in 1931 and worked as an accountant at Kaiser Aluminum. He retired in 1972.
Mr. Costigan was a 40-year member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and an 11-year member of the Cathedral of Our Lady Lourdes. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He spent winters in Palm Desert, Calif., and summers in Priest Lake, Idaho.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Esther; a son, Jonn Costigan of Spokane; a daughter, Mary Heilman of Minneapolis; three sisters, Lenore Kunz of Spokane, Eileen Branley and Alice Miranta, both of Seattle; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James Mahoney Spokane
Funeral for James P. Mahoney, 76, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Libby, Mont.
Mr. Mahoney, who was born in Libby, died Saturday.
He graduated from Libby High School in 1940 and enlisted in the Army in 1942, serving until his honorable discharge in 1946.
He graduated from Gonzaga Law School and in 1951 married Dixie Trimble.
Mr. Mahoney practiced private law for a few years and later worked as a support enforcement officer for the State of Washington.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dan and Jim Mahoney, Jr., both of Spokane; three daughters, Julie Magee and Kathleen Conley, both of Spokane and Peggy Gleesing of Yakima; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
