Job Safety Program Credited For Refund

Crediting a vigorous employee safety program, Kootenai County officials have accepted a $191,485 refund check from the Idaho State Insurance Fund.

Chief county civil attorney Dennis Molenaar, who heads the courthouse’s risk management program, said active employee participation and awareness about safety on the job has boosted insurance refund checks in recent years.

Seven years ago, the county had an average claim level 30 percent above other Idaho governmental entities (or 130 percent of normal). During the past three-year period, that has fallen to 100 percent. , DataTimes
