Central’s Ot Victories Knock Off Nic

In a match highlighted by two overtime contests, the Central Washington Wildcats edged North Idaho 21-18 in non-league wrestling action Tuesday.

Jeremy Wynia of NIC was down 11-10 in the closing seconds of the third round when his opponent, Shane Jamie, was called for stalling, giving Wynia the tying point. Jamie went on to win 13-11 with a minute into the overtime, when he scored on a double-leg takedown.

NIC’s Justin Springer scored a double-overtime win over Ben Orth, 2-1.

The Cardinals (13-3) wrestle their final match of the season at home Friday against Simon Fraser at 7:30.

The East Valley Knights claimed the Frontier League title after finishing undefeated (3-0) in league play with a 65-6 victory over the West Valley Eagles.

West Valley’s Justin Demke won a 9-6 decision at 148 over Bryan Lops, giving Demke the first seed at the sub-regional in Moses Lake on Friday and Saturday.
