Bill Raises Tax Credits For School Donations
Rep. Jim Clark, R-Hayden Lake, wants to increase the tax credit people receive for giving to educational purposes.
The House Revenue and Tax Committee Wednesday agreed to debate a bill that would increase tax credits from $50 to $100 for individuals who donate to primary and secondary schools, libraries, public television and education foundations. For businesses, the tax credit would increase from $500 to $1,000.
Clark said tax credit levels haven’t increased since 1976, when the law was passed. The measure carries a $2 million price tag.
“It’s quick fund-raising for schools and libraries,” Clark told the committee. , DataTimes
