Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Love your column! May I share a hint?

I place baking soda in the refrigerator to absorb odors. When replacing it, I pour it into one of my scouring-pad holders. The soda is then recycled for a quick and handy scouring powder for pots and pans.

Baking soda is too wonderful to waste. - Maurine Carter, Ventura, Calif.

I agree! Baking soda has so many great money-saving uses around the house that I have compiled a pamphlet full of them. To receive a copy, please send $2 and a self-addressed, stamped (55 cents), long envelope to: Heloise/Baking Soda, PO Box 795001, San Antonio TX 78279-5001. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: My husband suggested I send you this tip. When taking furnace registers off to clean or paint, or anything that has a number of screws, stick them in floral foam to paint tips and, best of all, they are right there to put them back in.

Thanks for all your tips. - C. Petersen, Greenville, Pa.
