Sex Offender Fails To Register, Arrested
Police said they arrested a convicted sex offender who moved to Spokane recently but failed to register with authorities.
Juan Barasa was booked into the county jail Wednesday on suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender and giving a police officer false information.
Police said the 26-year-old Barasa moved to Spokane from Clark County recently and failed to notify authorities in either jurisdiction. He has convictions for child rape and molestation, police said.
State law requires convicted sex offenders to tell authorities when they change addresses.
Barasa, who is living in the 2500 block of West Queen, was arrested during a traffic stop near Wellesley and Hamilton about 4:30 a.m. He gave officers several false names before they determined his true identity. , DataTimes
