Arson Attempt At Aryan Nations Investigated

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a report that two trespassers tried to start a fire in a bunkhouse at the Aryan Nations near Hayden Lake.

Founder Richard Butler said a security guard fired three gunshots and scared the intruders off the grounds of the Church of Jesus Christ-Christian early Thursday.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Jerry Wiedenhoff said there was evidence that someone attempted to start a mattress on fire in the unoccupied bunkhouse at the compound on Rimrock Road.
