Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: Many people have written in tips for securing open bags of chips and cookies, but one of the handiest gadgets of the 20th century that can be found in any office has been overlooked the binder clip!
These sturdy, reliable spring clips are the best thing I have ever found for such use. For open bags, first fold down the right and left corners, then fold again from the top down and secure with a binder clip.
It makes a secure airtight seal and is simple to take on and off. The most useful sizes I have found are the ones with 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch jaw openings. - Dennis Morgan, Morristown, N.J.
