Lois Arloiene Ronning Greenacres
Lois Arloiene Ronning is 100 years old today.
Ronning was born Feb. 7, 1897, in Bowdle, S.D, and has lived in the Spokane area for 30 years.
She taught school from 1915 to 1919, when she married Joseph G. Ronning, and became a homemaker until after his death in 1931. She began working with the Minot (N.D.) Public Library in 1934 and was named head librarian 10 years later. A new library was built during her administration.
Following her retirement in 1968, Ronning moved to Spokane, where she worked with the Spokane County Library for another three years.
The Ronnings had two children: Norman Ronning, Beaverton, Ore., and Joy Rowbotham, Greenacres. She has seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Ronning attributes her longevity to good genes, a positive attitude, love of her work, and a loving family.
