Passer-By Spots Fire Burning In Cellar

From Staff Reports

Fire ravaged a root cellar Friday morning and threatened a house before firefighters brought it under control.

A person driving by the house reported the fire at 818 Montana St. at about 7:40 a.m. No one was home and the passer-by pushed two cars away from the fire, said Wayne Nowacki, Rathdrum fire chief.

The fire destroyed the root cellar. Smoke from the fire also caused some damage inside the house, Nowacki said. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $5,000. , DataTimes
