Restrictions Urged On Air Force Flights
The federal Bureau of Land Management is urging the Air Force to reconsider its plan to fly jets at low levels over a wild canyon in Owyhee County that is home to bighorn sheep.
The BLM, which must agree if the proposed training range is to be created, also has asked that flights be restricted over the entire scenic Owyhee canyonlands during peak recreation months and when bighorn sheep are lambing.
The measures are part of the final environmental impact statement for the “Enhanced Training in Idaho” proposal, officially released Friday with a notice in the Federal Register.
