Spend An August Week At Folk Dancing Camp
The Spokane Folklore Society will host a week of folk dancing for families this summer.
“Lady of the Lake Family Week” is set for Aug. 16-22 at Camp N-Sid-Sen on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
Family Week will focus on Brazilian folk dances and African storytelling. There will be activities for children and teens as well as singing, crafts, campfires, swimming and canoeing for the entire family.
“There are only four camps like this one in the country and they’re selling out,” says Spokane’s Penn Fix, who named the camp after a 17th century English country dance.
“Family Week serves as a vehicle for families to interact in a way they don’t often do,” Fix says.
No prior folk dance experience is required. Camp tuition includes lodging, meals and workshops. Fees are $325 per adult; $300 per teen; $225 for ages 4-12; and $125 per child under 4. Space is limited. Register by calling Debra Schultz at (509) 838-2160.
