Purdue Continues Dominance Of Indiana

No team has had as much success against Indiana in recent years as Purdue. Now no coach has ever had as many victories against Bob Knight as Gene Keady.

Chad Austin and Brad Miller each scored 23 points Tuesday night as the eighth-ranked Boilermakers (21-4, 9-2 Big Ten) overcame a 10-point deficit in the first half and held off a late rally to beat Indiana (16-7, 7-4) 94-89 in West Lafayette, Ind.

It was Purdue’s fifth victory in the past six games against the Hoosiers and a record 18th victory for Keady against Knight. Former Michigan State coach Jud Heathcote beat Knight’s Hoosiers 17 times.

Georgia 86, (12) Arkansas 70

At Athens, Ga., freshman Jumaine Jones had 27 points and 17 rebounds - both season highs - and the Bulldogs (12-11, 4-7 Southeastern Conference) ended the Razorbacks’ (20-4, 9-2) winning streak at six.

(2) Duke 86, Florida St. 72

At Durham, N.C., Trajan Langdon scored 18 points and the Blue Devils (22-2, 11-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) rolled over the mistake-prone Seminoles (16-9, 5-7).

(20) UMass 74, Duquesne 68

At Pittsburgh, Lari Ketner had 23 points and eight rebounds and the Minutemen (18-6, 10-1 Atlantic 10) overcame foul trouble to two starters to beat the Dukes (10-14, 4-7).

(23) Syracuse 72, Miami 63

The Orangemen (18-5, 8-4 Big East 7) were again at their best on the road, beating the Hurricanes (15-6, 8-5) to take over first place in the conference.

(25) Rhode I. 69, (17) Geo. Wash. 61

Cuttino Mobley scored 25 points and Luther Clay added 19 as the Rams (18-5, 9-2 Atlantic 10) celebrated their return to the Top 25 with a victory over the Colonials (20-4, 9-2).
