Cupid Could Bring Enriching Dreams
This is the week when Cupid makes his rounds and might visit us in our sleep. He knows dreams are fertile ground for “Romance in the Making.” Through dreams, he titillates, informs and sometimes bowls us over. He can give indications of love to come, visits with old loves and suggestions for making present relationships deeper and exquisitely romantic.
Nadine dreamed a man’s jacket put its arms around her and lifted her up from behind. She felt swept off her feet by incredible love. Two weeks later, she was walking with a man she just met at a seminar. It was cold and blustery and she had no coat. He quickly removed his jacket and put it around her shoulders. At that moment, her dream returned full force and she knew this could be the beginning of a lifetime love affair.
Lydia had been happily married for years when she began to dream of an old boyfriend. He had been very romantic and the dreams were filled with candlelight and woodsy moonlight trysts. She realized they reflected a longing for more romance in her life with her husband. So, she created romantic moments in her life, much to her husband’s delight.
Dan had nearly given up finding a life partner when he had this dream. He was standing on a cliff overlooking a stormy-tossed sea when a woman approached him and said, “Don’t worry, sweetheart. We will be together soon.” He knew he loved her totally. A month later he walked into a business office and was bowled over by the pretty receptionist who looked like the woman in his dream. Hanging on the wall behind her was a painting of a cliff overlooking a storm-tossed sea. They have now been married for 20 years.
Three weeks after Grace’s husband died, she dreamed she was taken to a special place to visit him. They spoke of their undying love for one another and discussed their children’s futures. Repeatedly she asked, “But you’re dead, right?” He answered, “Yes. But we have this time together.” Grace found much comfort from this dream.
Love never dies, it just changes form. It’s what, as the song says, makes the world go round. Our dreams reveal that love has no bounds. It is timeless and limitless.
This is a good week to think about people we love and have loved. The questions are always: How can I learn to experience more love in my life? Can I open myself up to give more than I have? Can I learn to gracefully receive? What ideas and beliefs keep me from being a more loving presence on the planet?
This week, invite Cupid into your life and into your dreams. Ask what he has in store for you this year. Invite him to teach you about love and how to walk on this Earth with a big heart.
Love dreams: How have your dreams affected your love life? Do you have a dream about love you would share with the readers of this column? I’d love to hear them!
This column is intended as entertainment. But psychologists who work with clients’ dreams say dreams can hold a tremendous amount of significance; a particularly disturbing or repetitive dream may indicate the need to see a therapist.
