Moving the Minnesota Twins out of state might be illegal, Attorney General Hubert Humphrey III says in court papers that could be a blueprint for an antitrust lawsuit against baseball.

Humphrey does not accuse the Twins or other teams of violating state and federal antitrust laws, but he said they might have.

The Montreal Expos signed utility player F.P. Santangelo to a one-year contract.

Reliever Ricky Bottalico got a five-fold salary increase from the Philadelphia Phillies, agreeing to a $2.2 million, one-year contract.
