Flat-Bed Tow Truck Carrying Car Stolen

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police suspect the thief who stole a flat-bed tow truck carrying a car simply needed a ride to Spokane.

The car and tow truck were found abandoned Thursday in front of a Spokane business. Neither appeared to have been damaged.

Both were stolen early Thursday from Coeur d’Alene’s Sunset Towing company.

The tow truck had been parked in the business’ back lot and carried the car on its bed.

Employees of the business discovered the tow truck, a 1988 Ford 250 pickup, and the 1995 Mazda 626 missing at about 7 a.m. A woman working at Country Choice Meat Company in Spokane noticed the vehicles in the business’ parking lot about an hour later and called the towing company.

Police reports estimated the value of the car and tow truck at $27,000. The vehicles have been returned to the towing company.
