Wba Clears Whitaker
The World Boxing Association says it can’t find any evidence that Pernell Whitaker used cocaine, but the Mashantucket Pequot Gaming and Athletic Commission is sticking by the results of the test it took after the welterweight’s win last fall at the Pequot’s Foxwoods Resort Casino.
The Pequot commission announced it will conduct a hearing March 5 into Pernell’s suspension. The announcement came a day after the WBA said Whitaker’s four-month suspension for alleged cocaine use was lifted, clearing the way for his April 25 title bout with Ike Quartey.
