Looking For Fun? Try A Youth Group
Hello fellow teens. This article is for all of you with nothing to do on weeknights.
Come out and join a youth group or Young Life organization.
I go to several a week myself because I love them. I can tell you they will affect you in a positive way.
You don’t have to be Christian or religious. Youth groups are set up for teens to have fun, socialize and be in a place where your parents will not worry about where you are or what you are doing. Chances are you have a friend already going who would love to take you. Ask around. You are bound to find a group you will love.
There is a central reason why there are youth groups and that is to learn more about God. God is the reason why these groups are so great. If you have questions about God or life in general, these groups will help. The youth leaders are funny and friendly.
Several youth groups that I enjoy include Young Life, which meets Monday nights from 7 to 8:15. Most schools have a Young Life group. If you’re curious about Young Life, check out the group from Lewis and Clark High, which meets at Manito Presbyterian, 401 E. 30th. There’s fun stuff at this one. Expect crazy games and a wild time.
LifeCenter’s youth group meets on Tuesday, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at 708 W. Nora (near North Central High School).
An excellent group with great singing meets at Faith Bible, 600 W. Cora, on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.
First Presbyterian has a large youth group with more than 150 students. They meet Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. This is a well-rounded group that is great for newcomers. The church is located at 318 S. Cedar, near Interstate 90.
Sunday night features the great South Hill Bible Church youth group, which meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 958 E. 29th. Also on Sundays is Manito Presbyterian youth group which meets from 7 to 9 p.m. at 401 E. 30th.
These are just a few of the many groups out there. I’ve enjoyed all of them. Check them out. You have nothing to lose.
