Driver courtesy needed on Highway 395

Well it has happened again. Someone got T-boned at Main and Highway 395. When are our legislators going to make Highway 395 a four lane highway?

The Highway Patrol says the problem stems from people driving too fast. After driving Highway 395 on a daily basis, we have come to the conclusion that speed is less of a problem than people’s ignorance of the “Rules of the Road,” the attitude of “I own the Road” or their being in a hurry!

These are some of the problems we have seen on this highway:

People not going the speed limit.

People not maintaining their speed going up hills.

People speeding up when they come to a passing lane and then slowing back down when the highway becomes a single lane going both ways.

People pulling out onto the highway in front of someone and not giving themselves enough time to get up to the speed limit or not caring about getting up to the speed limit.

People not signaling their intentions with their turn signals and braking before signaling.

Come on people lets all try to be more courteous to our fellow drivers, because “Staying alive on 395” is what we are all trying to do! Ron and Sherry Howerton Spokane
