Police Arrest Burglary Suspect
Spokane police arrested a man they are only identifying as “John Doe” after responding to a burglary call Monday night.
The owner of a residence in the 2700 block of East Desmet was out of town. When his son checked on the house, he saw lights on and an unknown man inside, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.
Police found an open window and ordered the man out. The man told the police to leave and ignored their commands. Officers saw the man carrying a sheath knife in his hand, wandering from one room to another, Cottam said.
Finally, the man came to the window, dropped the knife and was taken into custody. He gave police two different names but had no identification.
The man insisted it was his house, then began singing when he was placed in a patrol car. When police arrived at the Public Safety Building to book the man, the man had a seizure and was taken to a local hospital, he said.
The man was listed in stable condition.
Teen arrested
A 16-year-old Chattaroy boy was booked into Spokane County Juvenile Detention for second-degree assault after shooting a 12-year-old girl with a paint ball on Feb. 9.
The suspect approached the girl and pointed a paint-ball gun at her head, sheriff’s spokesman Dave Reagan said.
The girl covered her face, but the boy fired and struck the victim in the forehead. The victim suffered a bruise on her head.
