Justin Weidauer scored 22 points and Brigham Young shocked No. 16 New Mexico 83-62 Thursday night in Albuquerque, N.M, ending the Lobos’ 41-game home winning streak.

BYU (8-20, 3-10 WAC) hit a season-high 12 3-pointers and took control with a 25-12 run late in the first half.

The Lobos (21-5, 11-2) had not lost in Albuquerque since Jan. 27, 1996, when Utah took an 82-64 win.

Michael Doleac had 15 points as the Utes (24-2, 11-2) defeated the Miners (3-10, 12-13) to climb into a first-place tie in the WAC’s Mountain Division.

The Utes are tied with New Mexico, their opponent in a key game Saturday at Salt Lake City.

At Tulsa, Okla., Lee Nailon hit a basket and two free throws in the final 11 seconds as the Horned Frogs (25-4, 13-0 WAC) defeated the Golden Hurricane (17-11, 8-5) for a school-record 14th straight victory.

Kenyon Martin’s basket with 0.08 left gave the Bearcats (22-5, 17-8) a homecourt win over the N.C.

Charlotte 49ers (16-9, 12-3), breaking a tie for the best mark in Conference USA.

Etan Thomas had 25 points as the host Orangemen (21-7, 11-6 Big East) defeated the Panthers (11-14, 6-11) and clinched an opening-round bye in the Big East tournament.
